ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A child was rushed to the hospital after being shot in southeast Atlanta on Sunday morning, according to police.
Around 6:30 a.m., officers were called to a home on Ruzelle Drive SE, in the Glenrose Heights neighborhood, for reports of a person shot.
They reportedly found a child with a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to the child and took them to the hospital.
The child is undergoing surgery. According to Atlanta police, the victim is in critical condition.
Police said the child was injured in a targeted shooting, but was not the intended target.
About half a dozen police cars are outside the home. Officers were also seen going in and out of other houses on the street, which is blocked off by crime scene tape.
