TULSA, OKLA. (KTUL) — A late-night incident turned chaotic when a truck crashed into a Tulsa thrift store, leading to the driver’s arrest for suspicion of DUI.
Police responded just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday to the Family and Children’s Service Thrift Store near South Utica, where they found a white Toyota Tacoma had driven through the north wall, causing extensive damage.
The driver, identified as Schuyler Houfek, attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.
Police reported “obvious impairment” and noted Houfek gave inconsistent statements, including denying driving into the building. He also reportedly told police he was “just following his GPS” and had a couple of beers in memory of his recently deceased grandfather.
The store remains boarded up, and police remind the public that an arrest is not a conviction.
