A driver died on Monday after they crashed into a canal in Southwest Miami-Dade, and two passengers were taken to the hospital, deputies said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at Southwest 268th and 107th Avenue.
Deputies said that the two passengers were able to escape from the vehicle as it started to submerge into the water, and they tried to save the driver.
Crews with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the driver dead at the scene, and the passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Their identities were not released.
