Suspect dead in officer-involved shooting at Mt. Juliet marina

The active shooter suspect at Cedar Creek Marina in Mt. Juliet is dead after an officer-involved shooting overnight.

Officers responded to a report of a man threatening another on the docks Friday night. They arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound, and the suspect was barricaded on a boat. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the suspect engaged officers and fired at them for reasons still under investigation. Officers returned fire, and the suspect was later found deceased.

A second victim shot by the suspect, an adult male, was also found dead at the scene. No officers were injured.

TBI is conducting an extensive investigation into the events leading to a homicide, an attempted homicide and an officer-involved shooting.

The investigation began after officers with the Mount Juliet Police Department responded to the 9000 block of Saundersville Road around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

TBI agents are working to collect evidence and conduct interviews to determine the series of events. Findings will be shared with 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson for further review.
