The Gadsden Fire Department responded to what appears to be a fatal house fire Saturday morning.

Fire crews responded to the fire at 1006 Wainwright Avenue at 7:47 a.m., according to WBRC. The home is across the street from Fire Station #3.

Gadsden Fire Battalion Chief Lecil Harrelson told the outlet that firefighters discovered a man dead inside the home. They did not identify the victim.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The man’s body will be examined to determine his cause of death.
