A man was found dead Friday afternoon inside a burning home in Carlstadt, authorities said.

Local police and firefighters located the man inside the Third Street home around 4 p.m. while working to extinguish the blaze, according to a statement from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, the office said.

The fire is under investigation by the office and the Carlstadt Police Department.

No additional information was released Friday night.
