Two people are dead on Saturday after a shooting in Fayetteville.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the shooting happened around 6:59 p.m. on North McPherson Church Road.

Police said they found two people with gunshot wounds when they arrived. One of the victims died at the scene, while the second victim died at the hospital.

Police said they are not releasing information on the victims until they have notified their families.

Polie said a person of interest was detained and being interviewed by detectives, adding that their investigation is ongoing.
