One person is dead and another person is critically injured after a stabbing incident ended with Johnson County deputies shooting and killing a suspect. The Johnson County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday afternoon that deputies responded to the Panasonic plant at 103rd Street and Astra Parkway around 11 a.m. on reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found one victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Deputies located the suspect and shot and killed them. The sheriff’s office did not provide any other details about the circumstances of the shooting. Deputies performed life-saving efforts on the suspect, who was pronounced dead by emergency medical crews at 11:25 a.m. No deputies or officers were hurt. It was not clear for several hours Friday why law enforcement was on scene at the plant. The sheriff’s office said around noon that there was a large law enforcement presence in the area of Panasonic, but that there was no active threat. Before the update that the situation was contained, an employee with Panasonic shared a text message, advising them to run or hide due to an “active shooter.” Despite that text, Panasonic later said in a statement that there was no active shooter. The plant produces batteries for electric vehicles. About 1,200 people currently work at the facility, though it’s still under construction. News conference from Johnson County Sheriff Byron Roberson:
