RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A 75-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Sun Valley in November.

At around 2:23 p.m. on Nov. 21, troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Sun Valley Boulevard and 5th Avenue.

An initial investigation found that the driver of a 2013 Dodge Ram was making a left turn from westbound East 5th Avenue onto southbound SR443 on a green light. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking in the crosswalk.

NHP says the driver of the Dodge failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian and hit them.

75-year-old Daysi Montoya-Salazar of Reno was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.
