Man’s body found after Dallas Fire-Rescue responds to house fire in Cedar Crest

A man was pronounced dead after he was found unresponsive at a reported house fire in Dallas’ Cedar Crest neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Firefighters first reported at about 5 a.m. that the fire was out at the one-story home in the 1700 South Marsalis Avenue, according to a news release from Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters forced their way into the home, where they found the remnants of a fire and a burned and unresponsive body of an unidentified man, according to the release.

The fire appeared to have largely self-extinguished and was declared out about 20 minutes after firefighters arrived.

The man died at the scene. Dallas police homicide detectives and the Dallas County medical examiner’s office were notified of the fatal fire, according to the release. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.

On Sunday, a woman’s body was pulled out of a burning apartment in Far East Dallas. She later died, firefighters said.
