Police say the 17-year-old girl found dead on the side of an Antioch road was the victim of a hit-and-run, and they are now searching for the driver who hit her.

According to her uncle, she was walking home.

“She was heading back home from doing laundry at a friend/relative’s house. She got into an argument with her boyfriend. She ended up walking back home,” said Elias Flores.

According to Joseph Flores, Jeana’s father, Jeana was struck by a driver after 9 p.m.

Jeana was found right across the street from Antioch High School. But she did not go there. Her family says she had other plans.

“She was trying to get enrolled in Job Corps on Treasure Island. She was trying to become a chef. That was her dream. That was her goal,” said Elias Flores.

Elias Flores says his niece was trying to turn her life around. Jeana called him three weeks ago.

“She called me out of the blue asking me about God and how she get her life right with God.”

“She was on the right track. Her life was cut short by someone very inconsiderate and very evil,” said Elias Flores.

Loved ones are pleading with the driver involved to turn himself in. And they’re asking for the community’s to help.

“We’re just numb. We’re asking the community to come together. If they have any answers, take it to the Antioch Police Department,” said Elias Flores. “We want some closure. We want the person to come forward.”
