Body found at Central Austin gas station during winter storm

Austin police are investigating after a man’s body was discovered at a gas station in central Austin early Sunday morning following a winter storm that swept through the area.

The Austin Police Department responded to a call at 6:17 a.m. at a Shell station located at 3828 N. Interstate 35 on the frontage road.

Homicide detectives and the medical examiner are investigating the death, though authorities said it does not appear to be suspicious. Officials indicated the death may have been weather-related, medically related or a combination of both factors.

The body was found near the parking lot area of the gas station, according to police.

The investigation remains in its preliminary stages, and police have not released the identity of the deceased.
