PREVIOUS STORY: Seven vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of Battlefield Parkway (GA 2) and Dietz Road in Fort Oglethorpe on Wednesday, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

Four drivers were hospitalized as a result, but two have since been released.

GSP investigators said the driver of a Ford Explorer was an 83-year-old woman from Ringgold, who mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal prior to the crash.

Her vehicle then hit a white Kia Forte, a white GMC Sierra and a brown Honda CR-V, which were all stopped at the traffic light on Dietz Road.

GSP said the impact caused the GMC Sierra to hit a gray Honda Civic and pink Lexus IS300, while the Ford Explorer began to flip over.

The Ford Explorer then hit the roof of the Lexus IS300 before coming to a rest in the right westbound lane of Battlefield Parkway.

A white Kia Sorento that was driving westbound on Battlefield Parkway was hit by debris as well.

The driver of the Ford Explorer has charges pending, GSP said.
