During a Jan. 9 meeting sitting as the Ada County Emergency Medical Services District, commissioners received an EMS update reporting two operational items: release of an active‑shooter/hospital response training video series and the deployment of a new medic unit in West Meridian.
EMS staff said the training project includes a series of videos designed to help area responders handle active‑shooter and hostile‑event scenarios; the board watched six of seven videos during the session and staff described them as “exceptionally well done.” Separately, EMS said it stood up a new medic unit (Medic 39) yesterday in West Meridian near a high school (Station 8) under an agreement with the city of Meridian. The unit was reported as staffed and in service.
The board accepted the update; no formal motions were required. EMS noted the ongoing work to equip and staff emergency units and that additional apparatus procurement remains in process.
