State police responded to 1,098 crashes across Pennsylvania during its New Year’s enforcement period.
Between Dec. 31 and Jan. 4, there were also 378 drivers arrested for driving under the influence.
State police did not provide statistics for individual troops or counties.
According to the state police report, there were three crashes that killed three people over the five-day period. There were also 4,377 speeding tickets issued, 508 citations for failure to wear a seat belt and 60 for not securing children in safety seats.
The number of crashes state police responded to more than doubled from 511 in 2025.
From Dec. 24 to 28, state police responded to 1,007 crashes, up from 598 the previous year. Four of the crashes were fatal, killing six people.
During the Christmas enforcement period, 207 people were arrested for DUIs by state police. There were 1,502 citations issued for speeding, and 155 for failing to wear a seat belt.
