AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police are investigating the first homicide of 2026.
Around 1:10 am, police responded to a shooting in the 6000 block of Westwind Ave.
When officers arrived, they learned the victim, a 15-year-old girl, had been shot in a vehicle and was taken to an area hospital.
She later died at the hospital from her injuries.
The APD Homicide Unit was called to the scene and is currently investigating.

Among the evidence collected was an unspent round ABC 7 News found at the scene. CSI techs came out and collected the bullet.
