One person arrested after Christmas Eve stabbing in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – On Wednesday, the Gulfport Police Department (GPD) arrested 28-year-old Ricky Markeese Lewis Jr. and charged him with one count of aggravated assault.

Officials with GPD said at approximately 12:12 p.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of Amtico Street in reference to a cutting. Those officials said when officers arrived, they located a male victim inside a vehicle suffering from multiple stab wounds to his head and neck area.

GPD said Lewis was taken into custody at the scene and the victim was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

According to GPD, Lewis was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $500,000 bond. Officials said at the time of his arrest, Lewis was on probation for possession of a weapon after a felony conviction.
