SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) – A man has been arrested after police say he was waving a handgun in the air and pointing it at employees of a nearby business.
At around 11:15 a.m. on Friday, officers with the Sparks Police Department were called to the 1300 block of Greg Street for reports of an adult male acting erratically and waving a gun in the air.
Police arrived on scene and spoke with a person who told them that John Patrick Lopes pointed a black handgun at several employees of a nearby, unnamed business and attempted to enter the locked business.
SPD officers found Lopes in a car where he was taken into custody without incident.
The gun was located and found to be a pneumatic revolver.
Lopes was taken to the Washoe County Detention Facility. He is now facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, being an ex-felon in possession of a gun and resisting a public officer.
